Nima Alzadeh — Doonadoon

Doonadoon, or Jameh beh Jameh, refers to the transmigration of the soul from one vessel to another, whether human, animal, or plant.

The work documents followers of the Yaresan faith in Iranian Kurdistan, captured during Khavankar, a spiritual gathering. The photographer invited select participants to pose before a black backdrop, creating portraits where "time appeared not as age but as sediment, layer upon layer of lived experience".
